Wasim Akram, a legendary cricketer, and his Australian wife, Shanira Akram, are among the most popular couples. Wasim Akram, who adores Shanira but has a place in his heart reserved for memories of his late wife, Huma.

Wasim Akram paid tribute to his first wife in the kindest words on the 11th anniversary of their marriage.

 “My love,” Wasim Akram posted on Instagram, “You will never be forgotten; you have given me the greatest gift (a son) who is growing and carrying on your spirit. You are no longer among us, yet your goodness lives on in our hearts, Huma Mufti Akram.”

As you may recall, Huma and Wasim were married on October 12, 1993. Wasim was first seen playing for Lancashire in London by Huma, a Karachi native. After becoming friends, the two decided to marry. Their wedding events were held in Karachi and Lahore, respectively. Taimur and Akram are the two sons of Wasim Akram from his deceased wife. 

Huma worked at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital for a while as a psychologist with a double master’s degree in English literature and psychology. They flew Wasim Akram to Lahore on a chartered plane in October 2009, accompanied by a doctor and a nurse when the condition of his wife deteriorated. Huma was transferred to India after her condition worsen, where she lived for 42 years. At the age of 42, Huma passed away.

In 2013, the great cricketer married Australian-born Shanira Akram, with whom he has a daughter, Aila. In the year 2014, Aila was born. According to Islamic rituals and traditions, Shanira married Wasim Akram. Saeed Anwar, a well-known Pakistani cricketer, and preacher recited the Kalima to Shanira Thomson and performed the couple’s marriage ceremony on August 12 in Lahore. Last year, Shanira joined Wasim Akram for a special session on a TV show on the occasion of Eid.
